East Munster Schools Cross Country Championships

The East Munster Schools Cross Country Championships took place on Thursday 8th February in WIT Sports Campus, Carriganore, Co. Waterford. Thanks to all the schools who supported the Championships and to all who helped out on the day.

The top 15 individuals and the top 4 teams in each race now qualify for the Munster Schools Cross Country Championships in WIT Sports Campus, Carriganore on Friday 23rd February 2018.

Munster Indoor Games 2018

The Munster Schools Indoor Games will take place on Tuesday 6th March in Nenagh Indoor Stadium at 11am.

  • All Entries should be completed online before 6pm on Friday 2nd March . Please note that the Relay team entry fee will increase from 5 euro to 10 euro after the Closing Date.
  • Fee shall be €5.00 per athlete/ €5 per Relay Team if entered before the Closing date & €10 per Relay Team if entered after the Closing date.
  • Fees payable on the day of competition when collecting numbers.
  • Athletes must compete in their own age group except for relays.
  • A school may not enter more than three athletes in any event.
  • There is no competition for Senior Athletes.

East Munster Schools News Update

All the 2018 Cross Country and Track and Field dates can be found on our “Fixtures” page. 

One change this year in the dates –  the Boys East Munster Track and Field will be held on Thursday 10th May to try and avoid a clash with the LCVP Woodwork and Art exams which are usually held on a Wednesday.

 Competition Byes – AS a result of a motion passed at the Irish Schools AGM, an athlete will only be granted a Bye if the date clashes with a State Exam, the athlete is competing in a recognised International or in the case of a family bereavement.

Waterford Schools Cross Country Championships

The Waterford Schools Cross Country Championships will take place on Friday 26th January 2018 in St. Augustine’s College, Dungarvan at 11am sharp. All entries to be with Mary Ashe by Monday 20th January 2018. NO LATE ENTRIES. ONLY ATHLETES FROM AFFILIATED SCHOOLS MAY COMPETE.

Change to Cross Country Scoring for All Round Cups

  1. That for the Munster Schools Cross Country Championships, the points for the All Round Girls Cup and the All Round Boys Cup will be revised and will be calculated as follows:-
  • The first six teams will score in each race
  • Points awarded will be 7 points for 1st, 5 points for 2nd, 4 points for 3rd, 3 points for 4th, 2 points for 5th and 1 point for 6th.

 

SIAB Schools International Combined Events

The Annual SIAB Schools Combined Events Championships took place on Friday 10th November in the Emirates Arena, Glasgow. All four Irish teams came home with medals with gold for the Junior Boys, bronze for the Junior Girls and Inter Boys and silver for the Inter Girls. The Irish team had one individual winner in the Junior Boys competition with Iarlaith Golding, St. Colman’s Claremorris winning bronze.

Our four Munster athletes on the day were Orla Coffey, St. Angela’s Cork (13th Junior Girls), Aisling Cassidy, Bandon Grammer (12th Inter Girls), Brian Lynch, Colaiste an Spioraid Naoimh (6th Inter Boys) & Darragh Miniter, Ennistymon CBS (16th Inter Boys). Congratulations to all four on representing their province and country so well.
